Helambu trekking has always been regarded as one of the popular classic treks in Nepal. The trekkers have multiple choices

Helambu trekking has always been regarded as one of the popular classic treks in Nepal. The trekkers have multiple choices in this classic trek; according to their interest and available time they can extend the trek days. They can either trek only in the Helambu region, they can join Gosaikunda with the Helambu region trek or they can join both Langtang and Gosaikunda in this trek.

Helambu trekking is famous for its pristine natural beauty and favorable climate with spectacular views of majestic snow-capped mountains. Langtang Helambu trek is one of the nearest Himalayan region treks from Kathmandu Valley. We will be commencing our trek from the Langtang region, which is located on the north of Kathmandu valley and is only 19 miles away from Kathmandu. Langtang region being very close to Kathmandu is still a primitive rural region and has been hugely influenced by Tibetan cultures because it was a famous trade route to Tibet at past. And presently, this is the only land route in operation that has been connecting Nepal to China.

In the Langtang region we will be trekking through the Langtang valley which lies on the lap of Langtang Lirung mountain ranges. We will trek to the Kyanjing Gompa and explore its surroundings: visit Langshisa Valley, or trek up to Tserko ri for the spectacular views. Then walking through the forests and villages, crossing the suspension bridges, we get into the Gosaikunda region. Gosaikunda at an altitude of 4300 meters is one of the holiest lakes for the Hindus. Hundreds of Hindus come to this lake and take a holy bath and then offer their prayer to the temple near the lake. And in full moon day of August thousands of Hindu pilgrims come to this lake for holy bath.  In Gosaikunda region, not only Gosaikunda Lake but also we will see plenty of other small glacial lakes that freeze during winter: Saraswatikunda and Bhairabkunda are two of those.

From Gosaikunda we need to cross Laurebina pass (4610m) in order to enter the Helambu valley. The view of mountains, glaciers and glacial lakes from the Laurebina pass is simply superb. Helambu culture trek is an opportunity to get indulged into the culture and life styles of the Sherpas, one of the popular ethnic groups of the Himlayan region.  Our journey moves through the lush green forests, ethnic villages, wildlives and astounding views of the mighty Himalayas. During our trek in the Helambu region we will conquest the top of Ama Yangri view point at an altitude of 3,800 meters from sea level. Spectacular panoramic view of the majestic Himalayan ranges from this viewpoint is believed to be similar to that of Poon Hill in the Annapurna region. From this view point, we will be able to see Mt. Shishapangma (8027 meters) the only 8000 meter peak in Tibet. Langtang ranges appear so majestic right in front of our eyes it feels like we can almost touch them. Our Helambu Trek Nepal comes to an end after driving back to Kathmandu from Melamchi Bazar.
