Overview

Makalu Base Camp is one of the remotest treks of North eastern Nepal yet offering a spectacular beauty. Makalu Trekking is the off the beaten path trekking destinations for the trekkers who want to trek in the less crowded region. Makalu Base Camp Trek can be the ideal option for the trekkers who have exceptional attachments towards nature. Makalu Trekking can be the suitable trekking destination for the poets, botanical researchers, zoologists, etc.

From Makalu Base Camp trekkers enjoy the spectacular view of the world’s fifth highest peak, Mt. Makalu, standing at an altitude of 8463 meters from sea level. Our trek in the Makalu region is permitted and monitored by Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area. Makalu Barun National Park is very famous for its lush green beauty, rare flora and faunas.

Mt. Makalu trekking is extremely scenic trekking destination. Our trek moves through the Arun river valley, waterfalls, glaciers, Barun la Pass and finally to the Base camp of the world’s fifth highest peak. Makalu Base Camp at an altitude of 5250 meters is the highest altitude that we will be scaling during our Makalu Base Camp Trek. Makalu trekking offers everything that a trekker wishes for. But despite of its utmost beauties and adventures Mt. Makalu trekking is not getting as much tourists as it deserves.

From the Makalu Base Camp we will be able to watch the picturesque panoramic view of the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Chamlang, Mt. Baruntse, Mt. Makalu and other Himalayan ranges.

Our Makalu Base Camp trek begins after taking a scenic and adventurous one hour flight to the Tumlingtar airport. During our flight we can enjoy the panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges.

In this trek we will be walking through the high altitude terrains & ethnic Himalayan villages watching the awe inspiring snowcapped Himalayan ranges in front of our eyesight. We will trek though two spectacular valleys; the Arun and Barun Valley. As our trek passes into the Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area, we can see various species of Himalayan flora and fauna, also some endangered mammals like red panda, snow leopard, golden jackal, Himalayan wolfed fox, Himalayan Thar and Himalayan Ghoral. We will be trekking through few Himalayan passes that are above 4000 meters altitude from sea level.

In some part of our trek the trail gets really tough. We will experience a real adventure during the Makalu trekking and our adventure will be rewarded by the serene beauty of this region. We will also experience the unique culture and lifestyle of the Rai, Sherpa, and Shingsawa ethnic communities. The locals of this region are economically very poor and isolated with the capital.  Despite of their poverty and illiteracy they have preserved the natural and cultural treasures of the region. Due to this region’s inaccessibility in comparison to other trekking regions, very few trekkers reach this region for trekking and mountaineering. Trekkers and mountaineers who visit this region take unforgettable memories back home.
