Overview

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is also popularly known as Annapurna Sanctuary. Annapurna trekking offers the breathtaking scenery and awe-inspiring wonders. Annapurna region trek has lot to offer to the trekkers, pleasant walk through the beautiful rhododendron, bamboo & alpine forests, natural hot-water spring and serene view of the mighty Himalayas will fascinate us during the whole trek. Not only the diverse nature we can also explore diverse ethnic groups and their interesting & unique cultures, the local communities found here mostly belong to Gurung, Magar, Thakali ethnic groups. These kind and friendly locals always are willing to welcome us with smiles on their face. We will discover this trekking trail is very rich in biodiversity with exceptionally well balanced ecosystem..

Our trip starts from the beautiful valley of lakes, Pokhara; and then the trail stretches through dense rhododendron forests. On the way to Annapurna Base Camp we will stop in Ghorepani to visit Poonhill. Poonhill is one of the most popular viewpoints in the Annapurna region. After reaching Poonhill at early in the morning we will enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the snow-capped mountain ranges. The view will be so mesmerizing that you don’t want to blink your eyes even for a single second. From Poonhill the dawn view of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak and other himalayan peaks seems legendary. We then pass through bamboo plantations and deep gorges with breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains in front of our eyesight. As we gradually start gaining altitude we will discover that vegetation turns thinner and thinner. Just before reaching Annapurna Base Camp, we reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp. The views of mountains look majestic. The view from Annapurna Base Camp at an altitude of 4130 meters looks equally majestic and spectacular. At the base camp we are surrounded by majestic himalayan ranges, and icy glaciers. It is a memorable scene to be captured by the eyes and the lens of your camera.

During the Annapurna Base Camp trek we can enjoy the spectacular view of the peaks like Fishtail Mountain (Mt. Machhapuchre 6,993m), Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m), Mt. Annapurna II (7,939m), Mt. Annapurna III (7,555m), Mt. Annapurna IV (7,525m), Lamjung Himal (6,986m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6441m), and other small and high peaks of the Annapurna mountain range. The highest altitude we will be reaching during the trek is the Annapurna Base camp at an altitude of 4130m from sea level.

Throughout the Annapurna region trek, mesmerizing panoramic view of the high himalayan peaks can be seen on the north. The contrast of the rice-fields and villages with the snow peaks above makes the Annapurna trekking very picturesque trekking indeed. Annapurna region trekking’s all these contrasting features makes Annapurna trekking in Nepal unique than other region trekking trails.
